About:
In the field of geology, the earth’s surface is described as a complex of large plates that are continually on the move. Subduction is the process in which one plate is pushed downward beneath another plate as they move towards each other. The opposing forces between these plates are so great that the solid rock at the edges can fold or bend, forming everything from massive mountain ranges to huge oceanic trenches. Plates Subducting was inspired by my first encounters with the natural beauty of the western United States, and is dedicated to Ben Ylvisaker.
